[optimize-campaign]The Problem
You have 10 campaigns running. Some are performing well. Some aren't. But you're not sure which metrics to look at, what "good" looks like, or what specific changes will improve performance. So you stare at the dashboard, change a few things randomly, and hope for the best.
Campaign optimization requires comparing your metrics against benchmarks, diagnosing the root cause of underperformance (is it targeting, copy, deliverability, or timing?), and making specific, prioritized changes. Most teams lack the analytical framework to do this systematically.
The result is reactive management — panicking when a campaign tanks and celebrating when one randomly works — instead of systematic improvement where every campaign gets better over time.
What It Does
Campaign Optimizer analyzes your campaign performance data and provides specific, actionable optimization recommendations. It compares your metrics against industry benchmarks, diagnoses the most likely root causes of underperformance, and tells you exactly what to change.
Every output includes:
Example
[optimize-campaign] My "VP Sales — Series B" campaign has been running 2 weeks. 500 sent, 42% open rate, 2.1% reply rate, 1.2% bounce rate. 3-email sequence.| Metric | Your Campaign | Benchmark | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Open rate | 42% | 35-50% | ✅ Healthy |
| Reply rate | 2.1% | 3-8% | 🟡 Below average |
| Bounce rate | 1.2% | <3% | ✅ Healthy |
| Sent | 500 | — | Sufficient for analysis |
Open rate is strong (42%), so your subject line and deliverability are working. The problem is converting opens to replies — which points to email body or CTA, not targeting or deliverability.
1. Rewrite the CTA (highest impact, lowest effort)
Your reply rate gap (2.1% vs 3-8% benchmark) most likely comes from the CTA. Common issue: asking for a meeting too directly. Test a soft-ask CTA (“Worth a look?”) against your current CTA.
2. Shorten email body by 30-40%
With strong opens and weak replies, prospects are opening but bouncing partway through. Shorter emails get more replies. Cut any sentence that doesn't directly address a pain point or deliver value.
3. Check email 2 and 3 performance separately
If most replies come from email 1 with near-zero from 2 and 3, the follow-ups need rewriting. If replies are spread across all 3, the issue is the core message.
4. Keep running — do NOT pause
With 42% opens and clean bounces, this campaign has potential. The fix is copy optimization, not a full rewrite.
A/B test your CTA: current version vs. “Worth a 15-minute look?” — run for 200 sends per variant.
Campaign health: Moderate (strong infrastructure, weak conversion)
Root cause: CTA / email body length
Priority fix: CTA rewrite
Status recommendation: Keep running, optimize
Time to generate: ~10 seconds

Start using it
Type `[optimize-campaign]` followed by your campaign metrics — sent, opens, replies, bounces, and any other available data. The skill analyzes performance and provides prioritized recommendations.
Use Cases
Run every active campaign through the optimizer weekly. Catch underperformance early and make data-driven adjustments.
Instead of guessing, get a structured diagnosis. Is it deliverability, targeting, copy, or timing? Each has a different fix.
With limited sending capacity, you need to allocate it wisely. The optimizer tells you which campaigns deserve more volume and which should be paused.
Not all fixes are equal. The optimizer ranks recommendations by expected impact so you fix the highest-leverage issue first.
Run the optimizer on the same campaign after making changes. Compare the before/after to validate that your optimizations worked.
Skill Stack
Pull campaign data with Weekly Analytics, then run it through Campaign Optimizer for recommendations.
When the optimizer identifies underperformance, design A/B tests to find what works.
If open rates are low across all campaigns, run a deliverability audit — the problem may be infrastructure, not copy.
When the optimizer recommends rewriting, use Write Sequence to generate fresh copy.
