How to Find Jobs Data in Clay: Advanced Lead Generation Strategies
Finding Jobs Data in Clay: Your Secret Weapon for B2B Sales
Job postings reveal valuable sales intelligence that most B2B sales professionals overlook. When companies are actively hiring, they're often growing, investing in new initiatives, or experiencing pain points your solution could address. Clay's LinkedIn jobs finder transforms this hiring data into actionable lead generation opportunities. If you're planning to scale this approach, check the Clay pricing guide and consider the Clay MBA for templates and outreach scripts tied to hiring signals.
How Clay's LinkedIn Jobs Finder Works
The "Find Jobs from LinkedIn" source in Clay operates similarly to other data enrichment tools, but with powerful filtering capabilities that make it especially valuable for B2B prospecting. For large exports, many teams start with an Apollo CSV export and then enrich in Clay.
Basic Job Search Setup
Starting a job search in Clay is straightforward:
- Navigate to the "Find Jobs from LinkedIn" source
- Set up search parameters including job titles, keywords, and location filters
- Use the "exclude duplicates" function to avoid running into the same jobs from previous searches
- Choose between basic or fully enriched results based on your credit usage preferences
Advanced Filtering for Better Results
The real power lies in Clay's advanced filtering options:
- Technology Detection: Use job description keywords to identify companies using specific tools (like HubSpot, Apollo, or Smartly) that traditional website scrapers might miss
- Recent Posting Filters: Focus on jobs posted within specific timeframes to prioritize active hiring companies
- Company Size and Industry Filters: Narrow down to your ideal customer profile
Data You'll Receive from Clay's Jobs Search
Basic Information Included
- Company name and domain
- Job title and location
- Posting date
- Employment type (full-time, contract, etc.)
Advanced Data Points
- Recruiter name and LinkedIn URL
- Direct job posting URL
- Hiring manager contact information
- Keywords confirmation from job descriptions
Strategic Applications for B2B Sales
1. Direct Outreach to Hiring Managers
When you find relevant job postings, you can reach out directly to recruiters or hiring managers with targeted messaging: "I noticed you're hiring for a VP of Sales position. Here's how our solution helps sales teams like the one you're building."
2. Company Enrichment and Scoring
Integrate jobs data with existing company lists using Clay's lookup function. This works similarly to VLOOKUP in Google Sheets, matching company domains to add hiring activity as a scoring factor for lead prioritization.
3. Technology Stack Identification
Job descriptions often mention specific tools and technologies that website scrapers can't detect. Use keyword searches to find companies using complementary or competing solutions.
Combining Jobs Data with Existing Clay Tables
The Lookup Function Advantage
Clay's lookup function allows you to merge jobs data with existing company tables:
- Use company domain as the unique identifier
- Match hiring activity to companies in your prospect database
- Add hiring status as a personalization element or scoring criteria
Building Comprehensive Prospect Profiles
Start with jobs data as your primary source, then layer on additional enrichments:
- Find decision-makers at hiring companies
- Enrich contact information for outreach
- Apply industry or company size filters for better targeting
Best Practices for Jobs Data in Outreach
Timing Your Outreach
Fresh job postings indicate immediate needs. Companies posting new roles often have:
- Budget allocated for growth initiatives
- Active decision-making processes
- Pain points your solution might address
Personalization Opportunities
Hiring activity provides natural conversation starters:
- Reference specific roles being hired
- Connect your solution to team growth challenges
- Offer resources relevant to scaling teams
Credit Management
Choose basic enrichment over full enrichment when testing new search parameters. You can always run additional enrichments on promising results while conserving credits during exploration. For quick data prep before enrichment, try the free utilities on our tools page.
Actionable Next Steps
- Start Simple: Begin with basic job title searches in your target industry
- Test Keywords: Experiment with technology-specific terms in job descriptions
- Build Scoring Models: Use hiring activity as a lead qualification factor
- Create Outreach Sequences: Develop templates that reference hiring activity naturally
- Monitor Timing: Set up regular searches to catch new postings quickly
Jobs data in Clay transforms passive prospect lists into active, timely opportunities. Companies that are hiring are companies that are growing—and growing companies need solutions like yours.

then the next source that we'll be looking at is the find jobs from LinkedIn source which works more or less the um the same way so you head over here find jobs from LinkedIn has the same function here so imagine you already had another table where you were looking for jobs you can exclude that from here so that um you won't be you know running into any duplicates which is always nice you can um use this to find jobs and you know tables imagine the table that we worked on earlier to find companies table you can use that as a sourcer there are uh just over a thousand companies in there and then you can find jobs there and write them back into that table that's one option we won't be doing that but um instead we'll just do a basic job search so for so that you can see what it looks like and then how you can use that as a base to build other list so we could for example say whenever a company is hiring for new vpf sales then um where you know there would be um uh working with house for example that could be interesting one um or and I don't think that that's going to get a lot of hits but it's worth it's worth trying um and again you can limit results as we did in the previous video you can see only ones that have recently posted um but you can also use this as a way to detect technology that may be um you cannot detect using you know the using build width for example so um uh you can add anything that cannot be detected different way so smartly there's one thing that will come to mind or apollo.io you can use this to find Apollo or smartly users but um that's not really for this video but just to give an idea of how you can potentially you know use the find keywords and job description filter to get a little bit creative so let's see if we can find any vpf sales that um that will be using hopspot if not we'll take out the hopo part and we'll just go with you know FB of sales well look at that uh so we found 17 most at the same company pet food experts but that doesn't really matter for this same options you can go with basic or fully enrich but just go with basic because we like to save credits then you get the um the company name the job title the location um and you know um other basic info but then in here is um is a bit more info that um that that is not in here so you get the um the recruiter URL and recruiter name the employment type and then um the you know the the direct URL so you can use this to for example Reach Out directly to the to the hiring manager or to the recruiter and say I notice that you're looking that you're hiring for thisal that job and you know this how we can help then uh there are a couple ways that you can use as information so you don't get the actual job description which is a little bit of um um disappointment but then again it does give us with a lot of you know solid information we know that um hopspot is in there in the job description so they'll by using hopspot hiring for FP of sales we know when it was posted by who was posted so that's how we can use this and um I'll do another one quickly just to see um just to enrich the companies that um that we found in the earli tutorial right here so we'll go here table find jobs from LinkedIn then add companies at our tutorial um thing right here then um um let's not do any job titles and let's just see you know in the last 90 days for example what they posted there you go so we find 218 jobs at those 1,000 companies so we can um import those to a new table and then what we can do is we can add those to the other table using the uh the lookup function now how the lookup function works is um something that we'll discuss later but basically you can say okay because we'll have the compy domain um in here which is you know the unique identifier as well as the company URL which is the same as in the other table so we can match those together it the same way V luup Works in Google Sheets or I think in Excel as well uh I only work in Google Sheets but um you can basically do let's say a vook up and say Okay match up these job post that we found here at the company table earlier and then we can see if from this company table who are actually hiring and you can use that as you know as scoring um as a score model or for personation or however you feel that however you however you feel that's relevant so that's how you can add some you know some free job post to your clay data um using the find jobs function or the find job source but you can also use it as a well the source as a main source that you&#ll um that you start from and then you can use enrichments to then either you know find people at these companies or um uh find you know at these companies find um find emails or with these companies and based on you know on uh um what their unique trades are you can say okay only if they're IND distri industry then you know continue with your enrichment so couple ways you can use this but job posting data is always really really interesting to um to use in your Outreach and this is how you can use clay to get that data
